Dear Jim, This new "Then and Now" is great. I still do not know how you did this.
It is so nice for your battalion friends to see their pictures from then and see The new photos of them, now. You are doing a great service to all your buddies to keep this going. Thanks! Mary K. McBride, Leawood, Kansas

I would like to thank all of the members, (Full and Honorary), and guests that made our 6th 553rd FA Bn, Red Scarf Club reunion such a success. 3 days of companionship of dear friends with a common interest, are always exciting. We had the largest group ever this time - and we are still growing.
I would also like to thank the staff and management of the Lodge of the Ozarks in Branson, MO for their accommodating us so well. We look forward to coming back.
If any veteran, or spouse of a veteran - living or deceased - of the 553rd FA Bn, that served in Darmstadt Germany between 1956-1958, would like more informations about our club, please contact any member on the CONTACTS page of our web site. Memebership is by invitation only.

I want to thank all of you for serving our country and for staying with us at the Lodge of the Ozarks for your 2009 reunion.
We love being a part of your event and look forward to having you stay with us again.
This website is fabulous and my favorite part is the now and then section and the jukebox. As I meet many of you it is fun to go to the 'then" page to see everybody.

Dear Veterans of the Artillery,
In my research about the Belgian Fourragere(cord) which is part of the 553rd with which I gyroed from Fort Sill to Darmstadt, I came across The Red Scarf Club. Jim Thompson and fellow 553'ers have put together a great reunion club who meets annually in the great entertainment town of Branson, MO. As Jim says, it is Las Vegas without gambling. I wanted to share with you the great website which gives you an idea of the Artillery during the Cold War. However, one of the gentlemen on the TO: list, I know, was in the real Hot War within the Cold War providing accurate fire with our beloved 8" HW.
Please click on OLD PHOTOS, and click on each picture and set it on slideshow. The picture entitled Battalion FDC shows a number of photos which I took on Nato Wintershield Maneuvers in Grafenwoehr, 14 klicks from the Czech border. I witnessed and helped call in a 3 battery TOT with a 20 yd HB. What a sight!
The Darmstadt Kaserne picture(click on) shows you an array of guns "on parade". Hope you enjoy it. Jim Thompson who is the webmaster and has done a great job to keep the club alive and active, has also included the jukebox music from the fifties which made us jump and jive in the Redscarfclub at the Darmstadt Kaserne(barracks-post). Good luck and should you have some pics from your days, please share them with us. With the Caissons rolling along on our lips, a wonderful Sunday to you ALL-John

Your trubute to Aunt Dot is very sweet and beautiful. She was a very special aunt as well and I am thankful to have known her and the wonderful memories I will always have of her. She is in my thoughts today and the family she had to leave behind much too soon.
All my love this day and always, your daughter, Joni

Dear Jim, Shirley and Dorothy's family,
I am a distant cousin of Dorothy and Jim and only wish I had known them in earlier years. All of you have certainly been helpful to so many people in your lives and Jim is such a blessing to all his Red Scarf Club. Only wish you had known my side of the Spruill family as they are all so much like both of you. We know Dorothy is with the Lord now and will no longer have any health issues. In Christ's Love, Mary K. McBride, granddaughter of Barbara Means Spruill.
